Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Trees up to 8 m tall.
Trunk & Bark : Bark grey, fissured; blaze white with orange speckles.
Branches and Branchlets : Branchlets subterete, lenticellate, glabrous.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, spiral, clustered at twig ends; petiole 0.5-2 cm long, planoconvex in cross section, glabrous; lamina 4-11 x 2-4 cm, obovate, apex obtuse or rounded, base cuneate to acute, margin entire, coriaceous, glabrous, glaucous beneath; midrib slightly raised above; secondary nerves 6-9 pairs; tertiary nerves reticulo-percurrent.
Inflorescence / Flower : Inflorescence panicle.
Fruit & Seed : Berry ellipsoid, 2.5 cm long; seeds 1.

Ecology :

In exposed evergreen forests between 1200 and 1600 m.

Distribution :

Endemic to the Western Ghats- South Sahyadri.
