Botanical descriptions :

Diagnostic characters : Evergreen trees, twigs pubescent when young. Leaves 1-foliolate, alternate. Flowers bisexual. Fruit a follicle.
Habit : Evergreen tree up to 20 m.
Trunk & bark : Bark grey-brown.
Branches and branchlets or twigs : Branches terete, yellow-brown pubescent when young.
Exudates : Exudate absent.
Leaves : Leaves 1-foliolate, alternate, elliptic-oblong 10-22 x 3-7cm, below usually glabrous, apex acute to acuminate, base round to acute.
Primary vein single, midrib canaliculated, secondary veins 5-10 obtuse, sometimes looped, tertiary veins reticulate. Petiole 1-2 cm, slightly swollen at the top, pubescent.
Domatia and stipules absent.
Inflorescences or flowers : Inflorescences axillary or ramiflorous. Flowers bisexual, flowers white, pedicels less than 5 mm.
Fruits : Fruit a follicle.
Seeds : Seed 12-20, with small deeply lobed aril covering the base.

Habitat and ecology :

Rare in evergreen forest.

Distribution :

Burma (Myanmar), South China, North East India, Thailand, Indochina, Laos.
