Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Trees up to 22 m tall.
Trunk & Bark : Bark greyish, smooth.
Branches and branchlets : Branchlets terete, glabrous.
Leaves : Leaves simple, opposite, decussate; petiole 0.5-0.8 cm long, canaliculate, glabrous; lamina 9-15.5 x 3-5 cm, oblong to elliptic-oblong, apex acuminate or caudate-acuminate, base acute or cuneate, margin entire, glabrous beneath, coriaceous, reddish brown when dry; midrib nearly flat above; secondary_nerves 6-10 pairs, slender; tertiary_nerves broadly reticulate and impressed beneath or obscure.
Inflorescence / Flower : Inflorescence axillary racemes; flowers white.
Fruit and Seed : Drupe; seed one.

Ecology :

Subcanopy trees in wet evergreen forests between 700 and 1700 m.

Distribution :

Endemic to the Western_Ghats- Agasthyamalai hills and Elamalai in South Sahyadri.
