Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Small trees, up to 8 m tall.
Branches and Branchlets : Branchlets slender, pubescent.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, distichous; petiole to 0.25 cm long, pubescent; lamina 4-10 x 1.5- 2.5 cm long, narrow oblong-elliptic to lanceolate, apex acuminate, base rounded-acute, entire, chartaceous; glabrous; midrib hairy above; secondary_nerves 5-7 pairs, slender; tertiary_nerves obscure.
Inflorescence / Flower : Flowers solitary, axillary, pinkish; pedicels 1.5-2.5 cm long, glabrous.
Fruit and Seed : Clustered 1-2 seeded berries, 1.2 cm long, oblong to globose with elongated stalk.

Ecology :

Understorey tree in wet evergreen forests at 700-1500 m.

Distribution :

Endemic to Western_Ghats- eastern slopes of Agasthyamalai Hills, Varushanad Hills Nilgiris, Coorg Region and South Malanad.
