Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Trees, up to 6 m tall.
Trunk & Bark : Bark grey, smooth; blaze brown.
Branches and branchlets : Branchlets subterete, glabrous.
Leaves : Leaves simple, opposite, decussate; petiole up to 0.3 cm long, canaliculate, glabrous; lamina 5-10 x 1.5-4 cm, obovate, apex obtuse, base attenuate to acute, margin entire, pellucid gland dotted, coriaceous, drying brown; midrib canaliculate above; intramarginal nerve present; secondary_nerves many, parallel, slender; tertiary_nerves admedially ramified.
Inflorescence / Flower : Inflorescence terminal corymbose cymes; flowers white. .
Fruit and Seed : Berry, black globose, crowned with calyx lobes, glabrous; seed one.

Ecology :

Treen along margin of evergreen forests or in open formations, up to 700 m. .

Distribution :

Peninsular India and Sri Lanka; in the Western_Ghats- throughout.
