Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Trees up to 8 m tall.
Trunk\bark : Bark smooth.
Branchlets : Branchlets subterete, toemntose, glabrous when mature.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; petiole 1-2 cm long, planoconvex in cross section, glabrous; lamina 5-20 x 2-4.5 cm, usually linear to narrow elliptic-oblong, sometimes narrow obovate, apex obtuse to acute with blunt tip, base acute to cuneate, margin entire, glabrous, reddish glaucous beneath, coriaceous; midrib raised above; secondary_nerves 8-12 pairs; tertiary_nerves obscurely reticulo-percurrent.
Flowers : Inflorescence racemes; flowers unisexual.
Fruit& seed : Berry, oblong 2 cm long; seed 1.

Ecology :

In moist evergreen forest, dry evergreen forest across Western_Ghats.

Distribution :

Endemic to Western_Ghats (Travancore to southern Konkan).
