Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Deciduous trees, up to 25 m tall.
Trunk & Bark : Bark reddish brown with large irregular peeling scales; blaze purplish.
Branches and branchlets : Branchlets terete, glabrous, lenticellate.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, distichous; stipules lateral, lanceolate; petiole 0.5-0.8 cm long, planoconvex in cross section, glabrous; lamina 5.3-13 × 3.5-6 cm, elliptic, elliptic-ovate to obovate, apex acuminate with blunt tip, base asymmetric, margin entire, shining above, glaucous beneath, glabrous, membranous; midrib slightly raised above; secondary_nerves 6-10 pairs, slender; tertiary_nerves broadly reticulate.
Inflorescence / Flower : Flowers unisexual, dioecious, green; male flowers fascicled, axillary, pedicels ca. 0.5 cm long; female flowers solitary or few together, pedicels 1-2 cm long.
Fruit and Seed : Capsule, 0.8 cm across, depressed globose, 3-lobed; seeds 3, subtrigonus; arillate.

Ecology :

Canopy trees in semi-evergreen to evergreen forests up to 1200 m.

Distribution :

Indomalaysia to Australia; in the Western_Ghats- South and Central Sahyadris.
