Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Small trees, up to 8 m tall.
Trunk & Bark : Bark thin, brown, lenticellate; blaze greenish.
Branches and Branchlets : Older branchlets lenticellate, young twigs covered by shiny peltate_scales.
Leaves : Leaves simple, opposite, decussate; petiole 0.7-1.5 cm long, canaliculate above, peltate_scaly; lamina 4-10 x 2-4.5 cm, usually elliptic sometimes narrow obovate, apex acute to acuminate, base acute, margin revolute, coriaceous, peltate_scaly beneath; midrib canaliculate above; secondary_nerves 5-8 pairs, slightly impressed above; tertiary_nerves obscurely reticulo-percurrent.
Inflorescence / Flower : Inflorescence compound umbel and corymbiform; flower white.
Fruit and Seed : Drupe, oblong-ellipsoid, peltate_scaly, 1 cm long; 1-seeded.

Ecology :

Understorey tree in medium and high altitude evergreen forests between 900-2400 m.

Distribution :

Indomalaysia; in the Western_Ghats- South and Central Sahyadris.
